WWW Wednesday is currently hosted by Taking On A World of Words, and asks three simple questions that allow me to chat about what I’m reading, and also my most recent and upcoming reads!
What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading quite a few books at the moment! I’ve been reading ‘The Priory of The Orange Tree’ by Samantha Shannon for quite a while now but don’t let my slow pace fool you, I am really enjoying this! It’s very clever and Shannon is the queen of fantasy world building, the world she’s created in this is stunning and I’m so excited to read more.
I’m also reading ‘The Queen’s Assassin’ by Melissa De La Cruz as part of my ‘Buzzfeed Recommends‘ series and I’m not sure what to make of it yet. There’s a few things about this that are bugging me but it also has potential so I’m trying not to judge too harshly at the moment.
I’m also listening to the ‘Born A Crime’ audiobook on audible right now and loving it! Trevor Noah himself is the narrator and he brings his story to life right in front of your eyes. I’m learning so much from this but also laughing along the way.
What have you just finished reading?

I recently finished ‘The Unbound’ by Victoria Schwab, the sequel to ‘The Archived’ and was left feeling really conflicted. I’m not sure what to make of this book, it had elements in it that I absolutely loved but it also had others that made me feel really conflicted and frustrated over the whole book.
I recently listened to the audiobook of ‘Lanny’ for my ‘Waterstone’s Book of The Month‘ series and adored it. I’m not sure I would have enjoyed this book as much if I had read it but the narrators are fantastic and make the characters really come to life. The audiobook was intoxicating and I found myself unable to stop listening.
And just last night I finished reading the ‘Descendant of the Crane’. This was a fantastically well-thought out book that made me feel incredibly stupid at times for not seeing what was to come next. The political manoeuvring in this was incredible and it must have taken Joan He years to write this because there are so many twists and turns. I do highly recommend this book as I really enjoyed it, and I’m hoping there’s going to be a sequel – it seems unclear to people whether this is a standalone or not.
What do you think you’ll read next?

Honestly I’m not sure what I’ll read next as I’m very much a mood reader and I’m now up to date on my ‘Waterstone’s Book of the Month‘ series so I don’t need to read any books for that until May. However, I think I’ll probably read ‘The Stars We Steal’ by Alexa Donne for my ‘Buzzfeed Recommends‘ series and to get a bit of a sci-fi fix. Also, I’ll hopefully have time to finally start ‘The Cruel Prince’ and the rest of the books in that trilogy!
What are you guys currently reading and hoping to read next?
I adored Noah’s book on audio, it was one of my favorites of 2019. I hope you continue to love it. I’m sorry Schwab left you feeling conflicted. I’ve only read her Shades of Magic series and I really loved that one. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

I’m sure I’m going to continue loving it! It’s the first Schwab book that’s left me feeling that way, but if you love Schwab you should definitely read a Vicious – it’s brilliant! Thank you, happy reading to you too!:)

I’m slowly reading Priory of the Orange Tree as well! My coworkers are all reading it together, at the pace of the slowest reader (5 pages a day). It’s actually quite nice to read it in little sips like this! It’s definitely an amazing world.
Here’s my WWW post!

Wow that is a slow pace!! But I bet it’s nice to have a little bit of time each day dedicated to just that

It’s waaay slower than I’d ever normally read, but I find myself enjoying the process more than I expected!

I also loved Trevor Noah’s audiobook! I was so glad I listened to it because his pronunciation was (obviously) far better than mine would be with anything. I am just waiting to get my hands on the final in The Cruel Prince series, I hope you get to enjoy them!
