WWW Wednesday is currently hosted by Taking On A World of Words, and asks three simple questions that allow me to chat about what I’m reading, and also my most recent and upcoming reads!
What are you currently reading?
I’ve recently started ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ by Celeste Ng as part of ‘Asian Readathon’, and I’m just over 100 pages in and I’m really enjoying it. I had to force myself to put this down last night as I know this is book I could easily stay up all night to read.
I acquired an arc copy of ‘This Eternity of Masks and Shadows’ by Karsten Knight on Netgallery. I’m only 11% into the book at the moment so I can’t really give a full opinion on it but it’s very interesting so far.
What have you just finished reading?
On the very last day of April I managed to push through and finish ‘Deathless Divide’ by Justina Ireland. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the first book in the series, as I found this one to be really repetitive and the pacing was weird at parts. However, I would still be interested in a sequel if Ireland ever decided to write one.
The first book I finished this month was ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Promise’, which was a bind up of parts one to three of ‘The Promise’ – the first book in the series of graphic novels that follow the story of Aang and the gang after the TV show. Considering this was one of my favourite TV shows as a kid, I was really excited when my young sister lent me her copy of this book to read, and it didn’t disappoint.
I also finally finished ‘The Priory of the Orange Tree’ this week! After reading the book for a month, I almost can’t believe I finally finished it. Unfortunately I really enjoyed the start of this book but felt a bit let down by ending and ultimately it means I can’t give this as high as a rating as I would like. Has anyone else who read this felt really underwhelmed by the ending?
Guess who finally finished ‘Born A Crime’ by Trevor Noah? It was an absolutely incredible audiobook and I balled during the last chapter called ‘My Mother’s Life’. It’s definitely one of the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to and it’s a book I highly recommend (even if it took me ages to finish).
What are you planning on reading next?
Since I’m taking part in ‘Asian Readathon’ this month and these are two of my picks for it I know I’ll start one of these two in the next week, I don’t know which one it will be yet or when I’ll start it but I have high hopes for both!
I also have a couple of arcs on Netgallery I need to start and work my way through, but I’m not sure which ones I’ll pick yet!
