WWW Wednesday: 20th May 2020

WWW Wednesday is currently hosted by Taking On A World of Words, and asks three simple questions that allow me to chat about what I’m reading, and also my most recent and upcoming reads!

What are you currently reading?

I have just about an hour left of the audiobook for ‘Yes No Maybe So’ and I’ve enjoyed the book so far, but I’m not sure about this climax where all the character’s problems are coming to a head – some of the problems are definitely valid, and others just feel like they have no ground. I’m looking forward to seeing how it ends still however, and I should be done in a couple of days!

‘Titan’ by François Vigneault is an ARC I acquired through Netgallery, I’m not very far into it yet but it has a really interesting premise and I know one afternoon in the next week I will just get sucked in and finish it one sitting.

I’m still reading the ARC for ‘This Eternity of Masks and Shadows’ and I don’t have a lot of it left! I like the premise but this book definitely has it problems. I should finish this in the next couple of days so a review will be up soon!

What have you just finished reading?

So I haven’t finished many books this week as I’ve been too busy watching classic Doctor Who and solving really tricky sudokus online! But I did finish ‘Empire of Sand’ by Tasha Suri. This was one of my picks for Asian Readathon and I really enjoyed, whilst there were things I didn’t like (the romance) I’m really glad I took part in this readathon as I’m not sure I would have picked this up if it hadn’t been for that.

Last night I finished ‘Anna K’ by Jenny Lee and loved it! Admittedly I’ve never read ‘Anna Karenina’ before so I can’t comment on how good of a retelling it is in terms of accuracy, but I believe it’s a good retelling as it’s made me want to read ‘Anna Karenina’ which I have never felt drawn to before as a reader. It’s a great book full of interesting characters and a compelling love story, and it’s one I highly recommend if you enjoy YA.

What do you plan on reading next?

I have to read ‘The Enlightenment of Greengage Tree’ as part of Asian Readathon this month so that will be the next ebook I pick up. I am curious about this one as it doesn’t sound like anything I’ve ever read, but also cautious because I’m not sure it will be my cup of tea.

I also hope to start listening to the audiobook for ‘Turtle Under Ice’ by Juleah del Rosario and perhaps also pick up ‘The Starless Sea’ by Eric Morgenstern as I’ve wanted to read it since I bought but I haven’t found the time yet!

  1. I’m glad you liked Anna K! I just found out it’s getting a sequel next year and I’m so excited! Reading it also made me want to read Anna Karenina, and so I did, and I didn’t like the classic nearly as much as the retelling 😝

    1. NO WAY! Thar’s the best news I’ve heard this week:) I’m not surprised the classic wasn’t as enjoyable, it does seem like it might drag, but I feel almost obligated(?) to read it now!

    1. aw that’s a shame! I’m sure it’s not for everyone but I think it’s a fun YA story and dare I say it, it did everything gossip girl was trying to do but ultimately couldn’t! Thank you!:)
