This week I’ve decided to take part in ‘Top Ten Tuesday’ again hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, and this week’s topic is ‘Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of 2020’. Midnight Sun by Stephanie Meyer

Why I’m looking forward to it: It’s a ‘Twilight’ book, it’s not so much of a want to read but more of a have to.
Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar

Why I’m looking forward to it: This sounds fascinating and is said to be based on Hindu mythology which I haven’t seen in fantasy before.
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
Synopsis: When his Latinx family struggles to accept his gender, Yadriel is determined to prove he’s a brujo. With his cousin and best friend he performs a ritual and begins a quest to find the ghost of his murdered cousin and set it free. But the ghost he summons is Julian Diaz, the school’s bad boy, and he will not go quietly into that goodnight and is determined to find out what happened to him. Yadriel agrees to help him and together they set out to get what they both want.

Why I’m looking forward to it: I’ve seen nothing but praise for this book, and the story just sounds incredible.
The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart
Synopsis: The Emperor has ruled for decades, his bone-shard magic controlling animal statues to maintain law and order in his empire, but law and order is breaking down and a revolution is sweeping across his land. Lin, the emperor’s daughter, is locked in the palace where her father refuses to recognise her as heir, and so she turns to the forbidden practice of bone shard magic to prove her worth. But power is not free and when revolution reaches the palace Lin must decide how far she’ll go to claim the tone and her people.

Why I’m looking forward to it: This sounds like a fascinating fantasy novel, and I’m always on the look out for fantasies with LGBTQ+ rep.
Piransei by Susanna Clarke
Synopsis: Piranesi’s house has infinite rooms and endless corridors, and within it’s labyrinth there is an imprisoned ocean, but Piranesi is not scared of the flooded stairs and rooms – he knows the tides and he lives to explore his labyrinth. There is one other in the house, ‘The Other’, who visits Piranesi twice a week for help in his research. As Piranesi continues to explore however a truth is unravelled and there is a world beyond the one Piranesi knew.

Why I’m looking forward to it: I haven’t read any of Susanna Clarke’s work but this one is intriguing.
Early Departures by Justina A. Reynolds
Synopsis: Q, Jamal’s best friend doesn’t know he’s about to die again. He doesn’t know Jamal pulled him from a river only to watch him die in hospital later, he doesn’t know Jamal’s used new technology to reanimate him for a limited time to say goodbye before he dies permanently. This is all complicated by the fact Q and Jamal haven’t been friends for years since Jamal blamed him for the accident that caused his parent’s deaths, and he’s brought him back to say goodbye but he can’t tell him the truth – making Jamal wonder if he can really repair their friendship without it.

The Mignight Library by Matt Haig

Nora Seed gets the opportunity to go there and see the life she could lead if she undid decisions, and she has to decide what choices in her life would be most fulfilling

Why I’m looking forward to it: I adore Matt Haig’s writing and whilst I’ve not read everything he’s written, I have found everything I have read interesting and unique.
The Betrayals by Bridget Collins
