WWW Wednesday is currently hosted by Taking On A World of Words, and asks three simple questions that allows me to chat about what I’m reading, as well as my most recent and upcoming reads!
What are you currently reading?
In a rare miracle, I’m currently reading only one book! This never happens! I’m not very far into ‘Checkmate’ yet but I’m enjoying it so far, and to be completely honest I forgot how easy this series was to read!
What have you just finished reading?
I read ‘Knife Edge’ in one day. It was quick and enjoyable and it reminded me just how addictive Malorie Blackman’s writing style is, and why I loved this series when I first read it. Whilst I don’t think it’s as good as ‘Noughts & Crosses’, it’s still a compelling read that revisits old points from the first book and new thoughts and problems ‘Noughts & Crosses’ wasn’t able to explore.
‘Beloved’ was a difficult read. It was tough to get through partly due to the strange writing style, where suddenly the perspective would change from third to first person, and also due to the subject matter. Whilst this was difficult to get through it was also compelling and well worth the read, and I’m excited to read more of Toni Morrison’s books in the future.
‘Lucky Caller’ was unexpectedly sweet. This may be the first YA ‘romance’ book I’ve ever enjoyed, and I believe that’s a testament to Emma Mills’ brilliant writing. I may have enjoyed this a lot as I was listening to it on audiobook and the narrator was fantastic, so I do recommend the audiobook if you’re thinking of picking this up.
What do you plan on reading next?
I’m hoping to start the audiobook for ‘Running’ in the next couple of days! And I’ll start ‘Double Cross’ whenever I’ve finished ‘Checkmate’ which should be before the weekend.
Moonlit Books 
I was hoping Running was about the sport, but it looks more like running for office. Maybe some light jogging thrown in? Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

haha it’s not about running like jogging! (Although if you want one like that I would recommend ‘a heart in a body in the world’ by Deb Caletti) As far as can tell it’s about a girl whose dad runs for president!!

I have never read anything by Emma Mills but from what I hear she’s a great YA contemporary author. She’s on my list of authors I hope to try this year.

I read Beloved for a comprehensive exam and I felt like there was so much pressure surrounding it that I didn’t get to properly enjoy it. I’d like to come back to it sometime. I do definitely recommend Sula by Morrison, though. The plot is a bit easier to follow and I just generally enjoyed it.

Oh I understand that feeling! I’ve read so many books for exams and classes that I’ve hated and I’m sure I would have loved without that pressure. I would recommend it if you’re interested in visiting it again, it’s an intriguing book but also difficult. Oh thank you so much for the recommendation! I’ll look into it:)

Running sounds like such an interesting book! I’d love to know how the main character navigates the situation she’s in in the end. Happy reading!
